The older I’ve become the more I’ve learnt about the world
and the sadder it has made me. There is so much beauty on this planet but human
beings are treating it like a trash can with little or no regard for other
living beings who we share this planet with or anyone who will live here in the
future.
Two things we can do to be a better human are 1. Consuming less animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, honey etc.) and 2. Not reproducing. I
realise this is almost impossible for the majority of the population but I think
if more people were aware then we could mend our ways in time to have a
positive impact on the planet.
So that brings me to this blog. I thought if there was more
information out there then it would help people to realise and hopefully
influence them to make better changes themselves. I decided I would start a
daily account of how I am trying to positively contribute to the planet
including (but not limited to) my vegan diet, reducing store bought personal
items (shampoo, moisturiser, deodorant etc.) and producing less waste by
reusing, reducing and recycling as much as possible. I probably come off as a
dirty hippy at this point, but let me reassure you that my hygiene is of a good
standard and that I do not smell (my friends and family would make sure I knew
if I did!). I also want to back up what I am saying with as much scientific data as possible, so I will try to include links that reference journal articles or official bodies of information in all my posts.
